Beni Kedem Bluefield Patrol

The Bluelield Shrine Patrol has been performing as a unit since it was organized from a Knight Templar Degree Team in 1916 by Dr. H. G. Steel, its first Captain. The Patrol has had nine Captains in eighty-one years Frank Gearheart is currently serving as its Captain. Seven members of the Patrol have been Potentates of Beni Kedem Temple in Charleston, WV, and two members have served as President of the South Atlantic Shrine Patrol Association. Active in community affairs, the Patrol sponsors the Blue~Gray Horse Show, Annual Oyster Dinner, and Vidalia Onion Sale and is involved in the transportation of children to Shriners Hospitals in Lexington, KY and Cincinnati, OH. The Patrol uses twenty-four men and three Officers for a Drill Team and performs in many local parades, as well as parades in Charleston, WV; Myrtle Beach, SC; and New Orleans, LA.
